Information
Scouting prepares boys to become respected citizens and capable men of high character. As a boy led organization, we are here to empower leadership, growth in character, and safely challenge each other to live out the values found in the Scout Law and Scout Oath.
Troop 51 is committed to providing safe structures for boys to learn basic life skills through fun and challenging experiences. Our program is proven, and our volunteers are trained.
We encourage you to come by and check our troop out before any decision is made. Meet some of the adult leaders and see what our troop is up to. You are more than welcome to drop by at the Scout Hut any Tuesday night at 6:30PM. We are located at 9315 Pismo Ave, at the Lake Pavilion in the lower level, behind the pavilion. You can also email us at troop51atown@gmail.com.

Who leads the meetings?
While Adult Scout leadership is always present, BSA encourages personal responsibility in the Scouts by utilizing the patrol method. Within the structure of the patrol method, the Scouts are able to interact both in small groups, and as a larger unit as a whole. Each month the elected members of the Patrol Leader Council (PLC) meet to plan the activities for the upcoming month.
WHAT SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT DOES A SCOUNT NEED?
The two most important items when starting out in Scouts are the Scout Handbook, and the Scout Uniform. Both items can be found at the local Scout shop, however upon enrollment in Troop 51 these items will be provided.
Additional supplies and equipment may be needed for certain activities such as camping trips or daytrips. What equipment is needed, as well as whether it will be provided by the troop, will vary. Unit leaders will provide information about any required supplies prior to each activity.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BE A SCOUT?
The annual registration fee is $90 for youth and $60 for adults. However, there are additional fees to cover the cost of certain activities and program supplies. The Troop currently participates in several fundraising events to help offset the costs of both registration and activities.
