Scoutmasters

Troop 51 is an active and robust Troop, and its entirely due to active and robust adult leadership. We are very thankful for those who adorned the Scoutmaster patch, volunteering countless hours to lead this troop on the scouting trail!

All the Troop 51 Scoutmasters have strived to uphold the scouting promise to every scout:

  • Hike in open country and camp under the stars
  • Learn how to enjoy the outdoors while leaving no trace
  • Become physically and mentally stronger
  • Practice leading yourself and others
  • Learn skills that will help back home.

Current Troop 51 Scoutmaster:

Meet:  Justin Moya has been Scoutmaster for Troop 51 since 2022. Justin attained the Rank of Eagle Scout in 1998, in the Ventura County Council’s Troop 207 as well as Vigil in Order of the Arrow. From Scouting to the Marines to US Forest Service, to now Dept of Defense, Justin has been a public servant his entire life. He chose to become a scoutmaster because he finds value in the moral compass that Scouting provides and enjoy the emphasis on outdoor skills and being caretakers of the land. Just as important, Justin has three children in various levels of scouting, from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, and one who holds a dual membership in both Girl Scouts and Scouts BSA.

As a scoutmaster, Justin is an authentic leader, he is mindful and aware, attentive to himself and those around him. He is humble and values the Troop as a team and is genuinely grateful for the contributions of the people he leads, always recognizing that success is shared. Most importantly, Justin is a devoted leader. He is dependable and is driven by his mission to provide the best scouting experience he can for all those involved.
