Personal Gear

Items that are not provided by the troop but are the responsibility of the Boy Scout.

  • Backpacking Backpack – Properly fitting, w/enough room for gear and food for 3 day Trek.
  • Duffel Bag – When the activity/outing does not require a backpack.
  • Day Pack – Should be included or incorporated into every activity/outing.  Should hold BSA recommended Ten Essentials.
  • Sleeping Bag – Compact/Lightweight, between 20 to 30 degrees.
  • Sleeping Pad – Several different options for compact/lightweight or bigger pad with more insulation.
  • Mess Kit – Lightweight and easy to pack.
  • Sturdy Hiking Boots or Trail Runners – Breathable, protective, sturdy boot or shoe that fits.
